CAC Community Champions Awards

CAC Community Champions Awards

The Coal Association of Canada is excited to announce the addition of the “Community Champions Awards” to be presented at our annual conference this September. These awards are being introduced as a way to encourage corporate support of our local communities and recognize these member companies for the positive impacts that their projects are having in their areas.

Member companies are encouraged to identify and nominate one of their own current projects that they feel is having a substantial impact on the local and surrounding community. Letters of support from community leaders is a requirement in order to demonstrate a strong relationship between industry and the people effected.

The Community Champions Awards will be presented to three different member companies as decided by a panel of independent judges who will judge the nominees based on the following criteria:

  • Positive impact on local community or communities
  • Number of people affected by company/project
  • Duration of positive impact on local community
  • Company values

The three selected projects/companies will be notified after the closing date of August 15, 2018. Winners will be honoured on the evening of Thursday, September 13that the CAC conference Awards Reception to be held at the Westin Bayshore in Vancouver, British Columbia. A press release will also be issued ahead of the conference.

These awards are a reflection of the values that the CAC has been built around, and the importance of strong, positive relationships between our members and communities is one of our greatest priorities.
