Coal Association of Canada honours Northback Holdings’ Angela Beattie
EDMONTON, AB – The Coal Association of Canada (CAC) is pleased to announce Angela Beattie as the 2024 Award of Distinction recipient. The CAC Award of Distinction recognizes individuals who have demonstrated exceptional accomplishments in the coal industry in Canada.
Beginning her journey in the coal industry in 2002 with a focus on the assessment and mitigation of abandoned underground coal mines in Canmore, Alberta, her ascent to the role of Vice President Resource Development & Regulatory Approvals at Northback Holdings, is a testament to her exceptional leadership skills, technical expertise, and commitment to excellence.
Angela has been a steadfast advocate for promoting the coal mining industry and the broader STEM fields and has consistently prioritized safety and accountability in her work, aligning with the coal industry’s commitment to responsible mining practices. She has spearheaded initiatives to implement safety protocols, comprehensive training programs, and innovative technologies that enhance worker safety while minimizing long term environmental impact.
Angela actively engages with stakeholders across the industry to promote collaboration, knowledge sharing and sustainable practices. Her advocacy for responsible mining practices and environmental remediation, along with her championship of Canada’s metallurgical coal as some of the world’s highest quality steel making coal deposits and operations, underscores her dedication to the long-term viability of the coal sector.
Recognizing the importance of nurturing future leaders, Angela has dedicated herself to mentoring and developing the next generation of coal mining professionals. She has implemented initiatives focused on attracting and retaining top talent, providing comprehensive training and development opportunities and fostering an inclusive and supportive work culture.
Her contributions and commitment to the Canadian coal industry are something to be recognized and the Coal Association of Canada is thrilled to be able to present this award to her.
The Award of Distinction is awarded annually at the Coal Association of Canada’s annual conference, which will be at the Pan Pacific Hotel Vancouver in Vancouver, British Columbia. The award will be presented during the Awards Reception on Thursday, October 18, 2024.
